The sea’s hands
were entering deeply
within the earth
as if they wanted
to shape the shores
in order to live together
for the following centuries
not as juxtaposition
but as complementary
and we imagined
the ocean of peace
embracing the handfuls of life
of all Australia
so the watery element
filled us with joy
and we smiled
at the sun of justice.
