21407 - Cyprus comes out enhanced with new data

Translated from the Greek by Athena Kehagias
Cyprus comes out enhanced with the new data from the Zohr oil reserve, as this is directly related to the Cypriot EEZ.
In other words, Egypt does not merely play the connecting link role between Greece and Cyprus, as some assumed
And it is not dependent on Cyprus’s natural gas.
Therefore, it’s regarding a powerful player, who aids both Cyprus and Greece.
In this way, the tripartite acquires more power and it no longer appears solely as a diplomatic move, but on the contrary, as a strategic action, for the three countries who have common interests in the region and more widely, within the Eastern Mediterranean.
Additionally, with the oil reserve, the relationship between Cyprus and Egypt would be enhanced at a practical level as well and more specifically in a context of a consortium.
That is the action field, that ENI on the side of the Egyptian EEZ, and Total on the side of the Cypriot EEZ are situated.
And because there are both the demarcations, and the concession contracts from both sides in existence, the two companies can function cooperatively on the issue of the mining, as they have to select the best location point for the drilling, which of course concerns both sides in a dual way, because of Cyprus and Egypt.
We therefore realize, that Cyprus with these new data and its allied context, must continue on her path of progress, based on the International laws and the Law of the Sea, without abandoning any of its own rights and sovereignty, through binding articles and unreasonable agreements, because all this high strategy concerns the freedom of Cyprus.
