26935 - Enough with that misery!

E. Conophagos, N. Lygeros
Translated from the Greek by Athena Kehagias

For some time now we are witnessing a systematic impoverishment of our country.
The fact doesn’t surprise us, because we are well aware that the aim of those in government is not to create wealth for our nation, and particularly wealth deriving from mineral resources.
We can observe the misery and the obsolescence wherever there are personalities with ideas and skills who could successfully achieve our country’s outward projection.
Ministerial announcements, such as for instance, that an Excellence constitutes a stigma, are in some political lip tips on a daily basis, but luckily Anna Korakakis in Brazil overturned the established misery placing our country on the highest podium of the Olympic Games.
Our goal has always been to place our country at the highest pedestal in regards to the detection and utilization of the underwater mineral wealth through the EEZ, which constitutes the greatest of our sovereign rights.
In this day and age, we are surprised by the tolerance and the apathy with which we accept them telling us, that if we have a problem at some stage, don’t worry, as we’ll eventually succeed in accommodating your needs with ration coupons as opposed to age pensions, although we know well enough that the Greek underwater mineral wealth is still in the phase of seismic surveys.
The State continues to manage the obsolescence of our mineral wealth, with long delays in opening and evaluating research investment tenders re: the marine plots of the Ionian Sea.
In that manner it’s actually avoiding to take any responsibility regarding the evaluation, the negotiation and the signing of substantial contracts in regards to the detection and exploitation of our hydrocarbon mineral wealth.
The ASAP creation of wealth and more particularly mineral wealth, for the benefit of the Greek nation, with consequential parallel and simultaneous creation of working positions, will continue to constitute a part of our struggle.
We now know that the new geological models of the Eastern Mediterranean indicate that wealth, ie, natural gas, could lead Hellenism to the higher pedestals of prosperity and progress.
So let’s all add to our programs all the necessary turnarounds in order for the exploitation of our mineral resources within the Greek EEZ to constitute the main aim towards the prosperity and progress of our homeland.
