32640 - Against misinformation

Translated from the Greek by Athena Kehagias
Because many aren’t aware that Hyperion is doing seismic research upon marine block 8 of the Cypriot EEZ, we have journalists in both Greece and Cyprus who are trying to convince us that Turkey is pressuring us during the negotiations by launching a new Navtex.
The issue is that the latter was declared regarding the region of marine block 6, which is not associated in the least with the other vessel.
Additionally many forget that the notion of the EEZ is applicable within international territorial waters as well, where military exercises are permitted because they are not related to economic data.
This fact practically means that the information provided by journalists is not only invalid and constituting misleading information, but it’s simultaneously dangerous because it attempts to tell us that we are under pressure.
They want us to forget the famous apothegm which states that: “You ought to kneel for someone to get you down on your knees”.
Cyprus is continuing its course regarding the emergence and the utilization of its EEZ, and we ought to, not merely observe it, but also follow it, because it constitutes a dominant strategy. Let’s therefore leave the propaganda aside, and let’s do what’s proper.
