Translated from Greek by Athina Kehagias

It may be that the name of the new marine block iwithn the Greek EEZ doesn’t directly refer to the Peloponnese because it is named, Region West of Crete, but it must be understood to everyone and especially to its inhabitants that Regional Peloponnese is entitled to 5% of the Greek State’s income regarding the contract with the consortium.
In actual fact, the largest part of this new marine block is under the jurisdiction of Regional Peloponnese without taking into account the electoral district which is under the jurisdiction of Attica due to Kythira.
This quite practically means, that the situation of Peloponnese has been strengthened even financially.
This marine block covers in itself the surface area of the actual Peloponnese.
It is much larger than marine block 11 of the first licensing round situated in the wider Mani region, which was more conservative not only due to its size, but because it was also far from the boundaries of the Greek EEZ in relation to the Libyan EEZ.
It is therefore wise for an effective briefing to be initiated in the Peloponnese at a Regional level, but also towards the municipalities which are directly related with the support services involved with the hydrocarbon exploration permit.
This briefing is not only important but also necessary.
Additionally, as the Regional district is entitled to have a representative during the negotiations with the companies, it is wise to use this opportunity in order to obtain firsthand information, and that always in coordination with the competent Ministry.
Because the regional residents ought to be informed about the strategic choices of the Peloponnese, and not to be under the impression that they don’t concern their future.
