Following the publication of the new licensing round regarding the three maritime regions:ie, Ionion, South West of Crete, and South of Crete, in the official newspaper of Greece, and while we are waiting for the publication in the European Union’s official Gazette, more and more elements are emerging about their characteristics.
Consequently, we now have access to the bathymetric maps which give an accurate picture of the actual situation and not merely simple estimations.
Both the bathymetric maps present interesting facts which will be fundamental towards the future of our homeland.
They are also good in clearing the context regarding the seabed, especially about the South of Crete region.
These maps are also accompanied by seismic charts which are showing with great precision in 2D seismic lines, the presence of high value target reserves, and this data also explains the enormous interest of ExxonMobil, Total and Greek Petroleum.
Because even though we don’t obtain a lot of seismic data, what we do have at hand, are sufficient enough to justify drillings and with great prospects at that , because the accuracy of the data is impressive.
At this point of time, all those who have for so long questioned constructive claims regarding the existence of hydrocarbons, have to finally admit that they have nothing to say further on, because the studies are not only presented by officials, but also by the official body of the hydrocarbons in Greece which has the exclusive management of the issue.
Now everyone can see these images officially and unobstructed so that they could become aware of what is the reality we are about to experience within the EEZ.
The interest of the large companies is becoming understood by all, as well as to what is the reason for their applications directed to the Greek State.
We ought to now prepare our strategic planning at both national and regional levels, because we are talking about high value infrastructure.
It’s the only way to enter this new period which will bring the recovery and not just the growth to Greece.
