53244 - The Agreement of the European Union

Following five days of tough negotiations between the Member States of the European Union, we have resulted to a European agreement of historic importance.
Upon the multiannual financial framework (MFF) package, of the EU and the recovery fund as well corresponding to the amount of 1.85 trillion euros
In this context we are observing that France, through President Macron, played a leading role in order for a balanced solution to be found, and in fact for that to occur in coordination with the positions of the Greek Prime Minister Mitsotakis.
And let’s not forget that Germany played a more neutral role in order to maintain the balance of relations with the countries of the North.
Whereas, from the first moment France showed an active attitude of support towards both Italy and Spain, which have suffered an enormous blow as a result of the pandemia.
Therefore, Greece managed to obtain over 70 billion for its enhancement and its recovery, which is an unprecedented fact.
In fact, this took place without the existence of a memorandum context, and without a veto possibility in regards to the disbursement of the amounts.
Greece will receive 32 billion euros from the recovery fund and of course this applies to grants and loans as well.
The remaining 40 billion belong to the new multiannual budgetary context with a horizon of implementation from 2021 to 2027.
Consequently we see that the enhanced credibility of Greece allowed her to actively participate in this European negotiation which was a bare fact and not a fictitious one.
It constitutes a justification for those who are fighting for the European course of Greece, which, in the case that she had made the tragic mistake of departing from the European Union, she would not have obtained any of all these mentioned above, and she would have been faced merely with the economic situation caused by the pandemia, end of story.
