53762 - Strategy against the Turkish Navtex
N. Lygeros
Translated from the Greek by Athina Kehagias
Greece did not procrastinate in responding to the Turkish provocation resulting to a Navtex for seismic surveys in order to get revenge for the success of the partial delimitation of the EEZs between Greece and Egypt.
However, she immediately received criticism by Germany in the context of the presidency of the European Union, which constitutes a enhancement of the Greek positions through Europe.
The most important factor however is that Greece immediately invalidated the Turkish Navtex in the most official manner.
Consequently, while Turkey is trying to hide the course of the seismic vessel in order to avoid problems with our navy, we announced that Turkey’s unilateral move is illegal because it violates the Greek continental shelf.
Yet again, the determination of Greece was obvious, since also the Ministry of Foreign Affairs announced that we are not about to succumb to any blackmail.
Turkey is not in place, and she ought to return to her position, as it is not the Navtex which she is declaring in such a way, which are about to change anything.
She could of course do exercises, but only if they are military ones, and not economic.
By declaring two Navtex, Turkey tries to confuse things but she fails, due to lack of strategy.
