The reopening ceremony for the Notre Dame Cathedral in Paris is a great occasion to have a meeting between the French President and the Us President-elect in order to prepare the next steps for the future beyond the classical obstacles. It’s not only a question of optimism but also of strategy between Europe and America and at its core the tough structure of NATO. But we have to keep in mind that this meeting is the continuity of solidarity. Because five years ago the American President was already helping France after the tragedy of Notre Dame Cathedral. That’s why it is indeed a true comeback. So it’s not only a formal relationship but a real link between the two countries. And there is a need at the core of the Alliance because we have so many problems to fix due to the crisis at the global level and also to this strange notion of Cold War II which is not obvious to everybody even if all its elements are already here now. But the majority needs more time to understand the present because it’s difficult to see the structure of the future in the past. That is the biggest reason for the importance of the Notre Dame Cathedral as a symbol from the past to the future.
