75018 - The aged apricot wood
Ν. Λυγερός
The Disciple didn’t know that the duduk was made from aged apricot wood. He was surprised to see that with fingering it was possible to produce chromatics even if the duduk was diatonic. But this day was a special day and it was a good one to start a mental revolution. The lesson was both easy and deep. The Master used also the ambitus of the extended duduk in La to show the new possibilities beyond the classical. The Disciple was impressed but he didn’t say anything. He just wanted to learn even more, he was thirsty. This knowledge was totally new for him even if it was the continuity of the deep past. And when he heard the first notes and the melodies of his Master, he understood that it was all about history, nothing less. This archaic and mournful sound was like a new testament for him. He realized how deep the duduk was and its importance in the mind of his Master.
