31255 - The new achievement of the Cypriot EEZ

Translated from the Greek by Athena Kehagias

With the completion of the only negotiations that were of any value this period, Cyprus has managed to lock another three contracts with giants of the hydrocarbon sector, utilizing the Cypriot EEZ and proving in actual fact that the substance of the solving of the Cypriot issue becomes understood only through the energean factor and through strategy.
The three new contracts of Cyprus, and not just of some community, took place in marine block 6 with the Eni- Total consortium, at 8 with Eni, and at 10 with the Exxon Mobil Qatar Petroleum consortium.
The signing bonus alone immediately offered Cyprus over one hundred million euros.
Additionally, Total’s granting of the 50% of marine block 11 to Eni, in actual fact creates a new consortium upon it, which comes to strengthen an alliance context between the two oil companies, which as European ones, and so have common interests with Cyprus.
We have therefore, within both the European but also the American context, an enhancement of the Cypriot energean factor, as a result of national strategy.
Consequently, no matter how incredible it seems to all those in both Cyprus and Greece who have never believed in the notion of the EEZ, it is the only tool that produces real and tangible national task, even though many are unnecessarily, but even skilfully one might say, engaged, with supposed negotiations which have no prospects as procedures, other than petty political benefits in the election arena.
