13341 - Peter’s cross

N. Lygeros
Translated from the Greek by Athena Kehagias

Peter’s cross
in actual fact proves
that even though he knelt
three times during
the disciples pursuit,
he had learned to withstand the pressures
and oppressions
of all of the rest
who were enemies
of Christianity,
and so at the crucial time
of his death
in order to show
his respect
to his Master
he asked to be crucified
upside down
so that it would be obvious at all
that he defends
the Truth
without trying
emulating Him
since he is a rock
which yells it out.
