20701 - Privatisation and SOCAR

N. Lygeros
Translated from the Greek by Athena Kehagias

When you are ideologically opposed to privatizations, how can you sell DESFA to Azerbaijani SOCAR;
When the privatization of The Independent Power Transmission Operator (IPTO or ADMIE), is on the scales, or even other alternative measures that lead to an equivalent result in regards to the antagonism, then do you really anticipate to actually sell the Greek gas network?
When the European Union through its Commission, incorporates it as PCI, the Interconnector EuroAsia cable for which it will give one billion, and the East Med pipeline as well, then you think of letting our network to foreigners?
When you are saying that we as a nation, are friendly to the Armenians, then why do you contact such a huge dependence contract with Azerbaijan?
The SOCAR (State Oil Company of Azerbaijan Republic) as its name suggests,
is a public company that has existed since the Soviet period (then, as Azneft).
Its objective is the European market, therefore it acquired and received 90% of the Romanian market.
It also bought the Exxon Mobil Swiss, and is hereon the owner of a network of 160 gas stations across the country.
It is creating a network that only transparent you can’t describe it as, but is this known to you?
