21539 - The Temple of Epicurean Apollo is in danger

Translated from the Greek by Athena Kehagias

The Temple of Epicurean Apollo, which consitutes the first World Heritage monument as was recognized in 1986, is in danger.
While it is our duty to protect and preserve it, as it happened for decades on, we suddenly found out that a problem arose concerning its protection.
As we had the opportunity to see this temple closely and even talk to its guard, we are aware of how much work has been done through the years, by all those responsible and their assistants.
We also know that its protection is necessary for the future’s sake, both substantially and spiritually.
This monument should be accessible, in order for those who observe it to learn of its importance for our history, but it simultaneously should be protected, and that is the reason for the existence of the guard.
It is therefore absurd for us to be forced to highlight such a problem, because of the bureaucracy regarding recruitment.
We are the homeland of Hellenism and not merely an incompetent government organization.
We have possibilities and abilities, with only a mere efford to become coordinated when utterly necessary.
And as far as the Temple of Epicurean Apollo is concerned, this need does actually exist.
Therefore, we are not about to let this issue be forgotten, and we’ll do everything necessary in order for the matter to be resolved ASAP, because it is our duty to do so.
As Greeks we must protect this monument of Humanity.
