Event Proposal
re: the 2nd fortnight of July 2016

In the context of the preparation for the celebration to be held in 2019 for the 350 years of the Siege of Chandaka (1648-1669), we wish to recommend to you an event, for the second forthnightof of July 2016, which will give prominence to the castle that you’ve just restored.
Our aim is, through a multiple effort to present in an artistic, musical, theatrical, but even a strategic manner, a performance which will utilize all chambers, which would remain open, in order for the Cretan public as well to learn interactively and live, within the castle (Castello a Mare), and not only through the lectures that will prepare them for the event.
Because this siege of Chandaka played a very important and strategic role for the entire Europe of the period, we plan to have with us, associates from Venice, Malta, Rhodes and Cyprus.
In actual fact we’ve made the first contacts, in order for us to have the presence of ships for the duration of the three days, which will function in crescendo until the main performance.
Of course it’s not regarding an actual historic representation, in the literal sense, but re: a context of expressions, with the aid of musical instruments of the era, ie, (vielle à roue, harpe baroque …) songs in Greek, French, Italian, Spanish of the period, theatrical scenes with costumes, within the historical castle chambers, in order for the audience to experientially witness those legendary events, which will enrich their civilizational knowledge through an immersion approach, which also emotionally touches our people, as it allows them to pass through to another era and eon, and not merely to view a classic spectacle.
As we will be aiming to use every space in a specific manner, we wish for you to provide us with a building plan, a floor plan, and an electrical lighting symbols plan, in order for us to present you with details regarding the project direction, so as for you to decide whether you would be interested in us organizing it together.

Sincerely yours
