23442 - The utilization of the EEZ

Translated from the Greek by Athena Kehagias

The utilization of the EEZ should be on every Greek political party program, if they really want to convince us that they wants to fight for the sake of our homeland.
Because if they avoid addressing our sovereign rights, how would they talk about our national sovereignty.
If they are unable to see the 200 NM, how can they see the 12NM.
In order for the existence of the consistency and coherence of a national high-level strategy, if it is not initially high as such, it has to incorporate the concept of the EEZ.
For some years now, we see its evolution as a concept at the global level, and the constant delay at the national level, because the Greek political parties have only discovered all about it in 2012.
Therefore, while we observe the developments in Cyprus, where we are getting prepared for the third licensing round, back in Greece we are still at the level of unsealing the envelopes of the large licensing round applications of interesterification, and the political parties have no reaction, simply because most have no idea of what’s happening in that field.
The same applies in regards to the EuroAsia Interconnector electric cable, and the natural gas pipeline, which are already within the Projects of Common Interest of the European Commission since 2013, and 2014 respectively, whereas the political parties are unaware about them, even as far as their special committees are concerned.
In other words, a mere reference to the acronym EEZ isn’t a sufficient indication to convince us that a political party is promoting the concept as such. On the contrary we should see a utilization program, in conjunction with a national strategy, and not merely verbalism.
The EEZ is a tremendous tool for the recovery and the growth of Greece, but it also requires leaders to give the example to all and to put their trust in the future.
