26337 - Pontus and the sea
N. Lygeros
Translated from the Greek by Vicky Baklessi
Even the people who really love Pontus have not realized that the most important and its most strategic piece is the sea not the land. Of course the Greeks lived on the land and not at the sea, but the substrate of their existence was the sea and not the mountains, as many believe. In fact the genocide was a way in essence to prohibit to the Greeks of Pontus access to the sea. And the castles of Pontus if we examine them they follow a structure which is directly related to the sea as we see it also in Cyprus. The idea of Hellenism that the sea solves the problems of the land has not yet become comprehensible to most people and don’t see how catalytically the developments work in Western Armenia. The issues of Pontus will be solved through the sea and for this reason it is so important for the future. So Pontus is not just a territory but a port and with this notion it needs to be examined so that strategy of liberation of the occupied territories of Hellenism appears.
