27894 - Greek hydrocarbons

Translated from the Greek by Athena Kehagias

While the issue of the Greek hydrocarbons is progressing dynamically in Greece both in its sovereignty, and its EEZ, the ruling power seems to be completely absent in regards to these developments, at the degree that someone may wonder whether it’s all about ignorance, or intentional irrelevance.
Because the data in a practical sense are on the increase, and we are also witnessing an active mobilization of the Greek Petroleum, whereas, there’s no obvious governmental response whatsoever.
As far as the international level is concerned, Cyprus and Egypt play a leading role in the Eastern Mediterranean, each with their own reserves, and actually within a cooperative context, but Greece is still on a standby phase, instead of passing on to the phase of readiness.
All these occur as if we are in a pre election period, where everyone carefully examines his moves in order not to be exposed during the elections.
And the paradox is that even though there are not, at least officially, announcements re: elections, and that what we are observing is something stable, there is no response at the level of actuality.
This inaction is dangerous in general, but more specifically in the hydrocarbons sector.
Because with the developments in the Eastern Mediterranean, which oil companies would wait on, until the government wakes up and opens the tender files regarding the 20 marine plots, which eventually became only three, due to the unacceptable delays, and to an ideology that is not associated in the least with the democratic countries of the region, and the rest of the European Union as well?.
