After months of delay for the Large Licensing Round re: the 20 marine blocks of the Greek EEZ, which they’ve tried to cancel, we finally have a positive result.
The Minister of Energy signed the decision for determining as the Successful Applicant, the consortium of Total, Edison, and Greek Petroleum re: marine block 2, of course now the Evaluation Committee should invite the consortium in order to finalize the contract, but we have already at hand an important step regarding Greece’s perspective.
This consortium was the only candidate for marine block 2, but it could’ve been considered a barren licensing round.
Therefore this practical concession re: the right for the hydrocarbon research and exploitation, is of substantial value.
So a vision of years became a reality, since the Large Licensing round began in November 2014 with its publication in the EU official journal.
With this outcome, those who doubted all that we were saying about the interest of the region at a global level, must now admit their mistake.
The same applies to those who wanted to cancel the Licensing round.
Within this marine block there are the target reserves Achilles and Pyrrhus, we obtain therefore practical data which offer us prospects.
Now that we overcame the obstacle of the bureaucratic ideology, matters ought to be accelerated with a dynamic strategy.
