29036 - Crete’s paradigm

Translated from the Greek by Athina Kehagias

It’s unbelievable what we’ve heard about the liberation and the unification of Crete with Greece. All, is presented in a manner which supports either the Venizelians or the monarchists, but in actual fact it has nothing to do with reality. There were undoubtedly liberalization efforts made, but without high strategy, and as result we had riots which wouldn’t actually lead to a revolution in the concept of a national one, although many try to present it in such a fashion, in order to obnubilate the unacceptable voids of strategy in a wittily manner. Consequently they don’t emphasize in the fact that the Turks of Crete made the huge mistake in killing 17 members of the British Army, a factor which saw the end of the Turkish military presence in the region. A fact which resulted in the departure of all of the so called Cretan-turks from Crete. They are referring to the Cretan State, just so as to say something about the King, they are talking about the abolition of the representation in order to say something regarding Venizelos, without clarifying that they both did everything they could, in order to delay the entire process for political expedience alone, and of course that in fact Crete was united with Greece merely after the Balkan wars and in fact, via the Treaty of London. Consequently the Cretan issue wasn’t resolved by any of the two, as much as each is trying to reduce the role of the other, in order for them to come across as the only responsible one.
