N. Lygeros
Translated from Greek by Athina Kehagias

He thought that with his tortures he had exterminated every speck of humanity within her. But she insisted enduring and she remembered a thought of the Master. So she smiled at her torturer with her eyes, because he had broken her jaw with a hammer and couldn’t do otherwise. He was startled, as he didn’t expect such a reaction after he had wiped out so many of her organs. She hadn’t confessed anything. He couldn’t bear that glance any longer and so he grabbed the sickle and began to strike her with all his might, just like the other barbarians who blinded the Holy Saints of our Churches. So he blinded her permanently. At that point she fainted from the pain. And he laughed because he had reached accomplishment after hours of torture. But he hadn’t learned anything forbidden. His frustration had exceeded the requirements of the mandate. And now he knew that he was condemned by the system. The cursed superstructure had beatten him while dying away. She was sacrificed to avoid saying anything to the enemy of Humanity, and she knew that the Master would find her during the next circle… And that’s how it occurred …
