Translated from Greek by Athina Kehagias
The fact that at a political level we are observing delays everywhere, since most of us have become accustomed to the situation which constitutes their everydayness, this however shouldn’t bother us in regards to the issue of the Greek EEZ.
Because who ever is in government, the geopolitical circumstances in the Eastern Mediterranean are changing, and that virtually occurs regardless of the official Greek side, and matters are progressing positively and dynamically.
This is the case mainly due to Egypt’s but of course Cyprus’ moves as well.
Because they function jointly, both re: the issue of the EEZ, and the demarcations more specifically, as well as the issue of the hydrocarbons.
Additionally they both have the dynamic presence of the Italian ENI within their EEZ’s, which by the way constitutes the black sheep for Turkey.
We have the strong presence of the French co, Total, and the American Exxon Mobil within the Cypriot EEZ.
All this context has created a dynamic and effective position upon the geopolitical chessboard of the region, a fact which practically means that there is an alliance context within the energean sector.
Simultaneously, the United States, as well as the European Union, via the NATO forces, are increasingly better within the Middle East and, and that more so, with the coordination obtained with the Kurdish forces.
Therefore, Turkey’s actions are quite limited, and her herself hasn’t got many opportunities to act effectively towards her benefit.
Consequently, we are observing ideal circumstances for the issue regarding the demarcation of the Greek EEZ, and even in regards of its proclamation.
All of the above, without of course the contribution of any government, but merely with the catalytic plan which has been created in the region in general.
