Taking into account the Aphrodite reserve within marine block 12, Eni-Kogas’ drillings at block 9, and now the Eni-Total drilling at block 11, as well as the preparation for drilling at block 8 by Eni, the Cypriot EEZ is serving more and more as an exemplifying role model.
As It didn’t stop at the stage of establishing its EEZ in 2004, or at the demarcation stage back in 2003, 2007 and 2010.
Even at this point of time, it plays a leading role at a European level, and it follows the activities of Israel and Egypt in the Eastern Mediterranean.
Because now with the presence of the hydrocarbon companies such as : Avner, Delek, Eni, Exxon Mobil, Kogas, Noble, Shell, Total, Cyprus constitutes geo-economically an added value even for the European Union itself.
As a result, it is interesting to now observe experts, who were telling us that the companies Eni and Total will depart due to lack of interest towards the sizes of the Cypriot EEZ’s reserves, to be now supporters of its exploitation and its development, and to come across as the pioneers of the entire issue.
What’s important however, is that they have ceased to say fearmongering nonsense aiming in that manner to reach out to the Cypriot people who are still suffering as a result of the occupation.
Because now the EEZ is increasingly emerging as a high strategy which liberates the island from adverse conditions and gives it degrees of freedom for its strategic moves, which were simply inconceivable even as far as a few years back.
Consequently, the Cypriot EEZ indicates that, the endless blue is the future of Hellenism as ncomprehensible as it may seem.
