With the recent data at the level of the Greek EEZ, the Regions are practically activated in coordination with the Ministry of Energy.
Those which are directly connected to the recent licensing rounds are: the Ionian, the Peloponnese, Attica and Crete regions.
The Ionian Region regarding Marine block 2 and the marine area Ionio.
The Peloponnese and Attica Regions regarding the Marine Region Southwest of Crete, together with the Region of Crete regarding the marine region South of Crete.
All of those Regions ought to carefully study the Hydrocarbons Act 2289/1995 and its 4001/2011 Amendment, as that is the one that states that the Region where the reserve is located will receive 5% of the Greek State’s earnings regarding it.
Additionally each region has the right to have a representative during the negotiations between the companies, the consortiums, and the Greek State.
In that manner they will directly become aware of what the evolution of matters is at any point in this field.
In addition they also need to incorporate within their strategic planning, the data of the Greek EEZ regarding the natural gas pipeline East Med plan, as well as the EuroAsia Interconnector electric cable, in order to make full use of all the possibilities offered at Regional level, because we’ve already proceeded to the next stage of the vision of the Greek EEZ.
