41178 - The first recitation

N. Lygeros
Translated from the Greek by Athina Kehagias

With the first recitation
of an unknown language
he wanted to teach them how easily
they could’ve committed an act of barbarism.
So the knight without an armor
returned in order to die
amongst them
and before being tortured
without anyone understanding what had happened.
And he showed them in an invincible manner
how the innocent could
co-operate with barbarism
without actually realizing they did so.
He didn’t drink from the glass,
he left the cognac
for another time.
Then he got the young one
to read out in yet another language
in order for her to learn under her skin
the teaching of love
which endures barbarism
without kneeling.
