46303 - The Northern Epirotan dignity
N. Lygeros
Translated from the Greek by Athina Kehagias
If there is a word which could characterize
our own in Northern Epirus
then, that is dignity.
They haven’t learned either to ask
nor to plead for
they continue relentlessly
the fight for the liberation
of the homeland.
And as difficult as the context is
and no matter how harsh the conditions may be
they never give up
because they know that Time
is with them
and that their souls belong
to this stretch of earth
which resisted and will resist
to all barbarism.
That’s why their dignity
is an example to be followed
for those who are fighting for freedom.
