56151 - The green flute
N. Lygeros
Translated from the Greek by Athina Kehagias
When he took a glance
of the green flute for the first time
he was left with his mouth wide open.
He had never before in his life
seen a metal flute.
When Miss, who looked like a forest fairy
gave it to him
he did not realize it was a gift.
But when he felt her warmth
he realized that she had protected
the flute from the cold
of autumn.
He examined its green
which reminded him of the colours
of the leaves of the Forest.
He did not know how to hold it
and Miss showed him
the six holes.
She even told him that he
would constitute its soul
because it did not obtain a half-soul.
Afterwards she revealed to him
the first fingerings.
And so he heard her voice.
