75662 - Declassified documents

Ν. Lygeros

Before the declassification of Soviet – era documents
it was impossible to prove in an objective way
that the Soviet Union was involved in
the Greek Civil War.
The Soviet Union provided the so-called
Provisional Democratic Government
and the Greek Democratic army
with captured German weapons
from World War II.
This was done of course despite Yalta Conference
where the Kremlin agreed
that Greece should belong
to the western sphere of influence.
If the Soviets sent weapons,
from the Nazi and not from Soviet origin
it was only for one reason.
They tried to avoid traces
which would prove that they provided aid
to the Communist Party of Greece.
This is proved now by the report
of Molotov to Stalin.
And for the same reason,
they sent to the party
only US dollars!
