95528 - The new shape of the Middle East

N. Lygeros

Something which was impossible for decades is now a reality. And the fall of this dictatorship can reshape effectively the balance of power in the Middle East. We can already see who are the losers. Russia and Iran. This point is clear. But Turkey belongs to the provisional winner. Of course, at the end of this path we could find the creation of Kurdistan. It’s maybe too early to talk about that but we have to keep it in mind. By the way, it’s impossible to interpret this new situation as a phenomenon of Serendipity especially for Israel. Each time that a country attacks Israel, at the end even with sacrifices, there is a kind of miracle which is the result of an active Serendipity. Now, Middle East has changed unexpectedly. The only problem now is if we have a new phase of a new cycle. It will depend also on the creation or not of the Kurdistan from this really new situation. Russia is weaker. There is a point now. Iran is also weaker and it’s obvious now. In any case, there is a new chapter in the book of the Middle East. And this one is very important for the people of Syria. It depends on us to valorize this change at the level of Grand Strategy. The impossible was done, now we have to do the possible.
