95725 - The complexity of life
N. Lygeros
We have to accept that life is complex but it doesn’t mean that there is no explanation. And this is one of the tasks of the work. We think that indeed geopolitics is complex but it’s only a consequence of the previous fact. That’s why strategy is so precious when we want to solve problems and to help people. On the other side death is simple, at least if we consider it only as the end of life. So, there is a difference which is due to the fact that it’s difficult to construct and easy to destroy. But if we consider the notion of polycyclicity this difference disappears. And instead of death and life, we prefer to talk about the end and the beginning, and also the achievement and the creation. This duality can be found in the couple problem and solution. We think that all the problems need a solution. But in practice, we can see that a solution can produce a problem and also that a problem can create another problem. By the way, it’s difficult to go from a problem to a solution but it’s easy to go from a problem to another problem. And this is a usual path in mathematics for instance when we want to prove that two problems are equivalent i.e. that there exists an isomorphism. With this kind of method, we can find new ways to manage, to master and to solve geopolitical issues even if many people, in fact almost all, think that it’s impossible to solve them even if they are unsolved for the moment.
