49217 - The Struggle of Humanity
N. Lygeros
Translated from the Greek by Vicky Baklesi
Nobody had imagined in the beginning of the twenty first century that the Struggle of Humanity would be the confrontation of a pandemic or rather most of them who didn’t pay attention to the details of history, as they said, while they were foundational facts which had struck the course of the people. Because even if many had within their memory many plagues of other centuries, they didn’t see these illnesses but only as sporadic cases. It was difficult for a human to perceive that a rare phenomenon could have enormous consequences in the depth of time and these were sometimes frightening. More classically, they examined wars and battles, namely they saw elements of strategy and tactics. But great imagination was necessary to see the analogies with the illnesses, the epidemics and the pandemics while there was an isomorphism with tactics, strategy and great strategy. He had these in his mind while practicing the mandolin in the living room beside the bookcase and on the carpets from so many regions of the planet. He would always see it as a piece of Humanity but now with the issue of the pandemic, he saw it differently. Even the mandolin reminded him of his beloved Italy who, this period, was going through such difficult days. This also was a voice from a world which suffered. But he would at the same time see also the resistance of those people who with great dignity followed the instructions of the strategic medicine. This behavior of the Italians was almost, for most people, a miracle but not for him, since he recognized within them a people of Humanity who was ready to give a fight and to declare war against this new form of barbarity. Because there was a big difference with crisis management relative to China’s system. Red barbarity had not given any choice to the people. It had decided in authoritarian manner how they would solve the problem. It hadn’t counted on the intelligence of the people nor on their will. It had simply ordered everything. While Italy was a free country. The mandolin comprised a symbol for Italy, since during great poverty, when Italians became immigrants of the New World the only precious object they had with them to remind them of their homeland, was this diachronic instrument. And now that he saw it on the table, he felt it even deeper. As if he saw through it the Italian soul which resisted with passion to this pandemic. He had been touched by the problem of Venice and then of Florence but only when the phenomenon was generalized in all of Italy’s territory, the essence of this resistance appeared. It was no longer a local battle, an issue of tactics; it was a war that required strategic confrontation. The movements didn’t suffice, only acts could save the situation because the multitude of the dead continued to rise, so the measures had to be even more effective so to save lives. So the acts consisted of chords which supported the melody which characterized the spirit of Italy of Mankind. He thought of how quickly the strangers had forgotten when the epidemic had started, that Italy had the most Monuments of World Heritage in the world. This density of a diachronic civilization had been forgotten by the reporters and had annihilated the whole history of Italy so that they talk only about the epidemic. This injustice was necessary and this is why it had given emphasis to this treasure of Humanity. For him the Italians weren’t only cases and dead but humans who gave the example of a coordinated resistance against barbarity of the pandemic. Because with the spread of the cases in other countries the people examined more carefully the behavior of the Italians, so that they follow the measures they have taken due to their effectiveness. So the Italians who initially looked like victims that for many were at fault, they now were examples to follow for the other countries who now saw the same nightmare in their region. Namely they would hear again what the mandolin which had survived thanks to its defense. He thought over again the map he was studying on his computer and would give him the big picture of this pandemic and he wondered what Humanity would accomplish if it had such tools in previous pandemics and especially the flu of 1918, the so called Spanish flu which had also been born in China. Now Humanity had to take advantage of the internet so that there is a robust awareness, so that the decisions for the measures are taken effectively. To make the difference he had to exploit to the utmost the incomparable level of science and technology she had in place. At the same time he saw that the strategic crisis management was most important, because very simply the people had to be saved and to avoid cases, even if we didn’t have in hand the vaccine. The scientific community was searching mostly for the future when the virus would become seasonal, but now strategic medicine was necessary which saves even before the therapy. Because that was the subject of the Struggle of Humanity. The issue was that it is not the virus that provokes the epidemic that becomes a pandemic, but it’s that which is manageable thanks to the intelligence of Humanity. Its mnemosyne hadn’t forgotten the previous facts and had created protocols which institutions had to follow for most people to be saved. But a more reinforcing approach was necessary on a great strategy level. The crisis management was no longer pure medicine. Medicine had to think strategically, because the multitude of the cases required an immediate effectiveness but the only one that had the capability to function in the depth of Time, was robustness and that was told by deep history. So another code came to mind and it was that of Upgraded History: H++. A new instrument for the confrontation of the pandemic. So he turned on the computer.
