58347 - Far beyond Casus Belli
N. Lygeros
Translated from the Greek by Athina Kehagias
With the national strategy which we have implemented, we have managed to overcome the serious obstacle of the Turkish Casus Belli. Since this concerned the expansion of the coastal zone to any part of our territory whatsoever.
However, with actions at an international level, we have achieved creating an allied network of powerful players at a strategic level, which is not afraid of Turkey’s provocative moves.
As a result a trap set up by Turkey in 1995, ie, in the year that we’ve ratified the 1982 Law of the Sea , that trap began to collapse due to the combinations we set up with Cyprus and Israel, with Egypt regarding the disarmament of the illegal memorandum, with Italy regarding the EEZ, with France re: the Rafale, with the US in regards to measures and regarding the F-35.
Consequently, the extension which follows the Law of the Sea without violating any state whatsoever, challenges the meaning of Casus Belli at a practical level, as it is becoming more and more a communication trick, since it has lost its deterrent character with our very actions.
It therefore constitutes yet another historical step of Hellenism.
