Isolationism isn’t a solution for America because it’s in reality European. In fact, the real problem is that Europe is not enough American. Europe is trying to be independent to but only at the theoretical level but in practice there is a big dependence from Russia about energy and China about commerce. It’s very difficult for a European guy to consider that the source of America is Europe. But it’s a fact even if it isn’t obvious. The real problem is from the other side. It’s very difficult for Europe to consider that America is very special for it. We use to consider in Europe that Asia and Africa play a more important role because we are neighbors but it’s an error. At the strategic level, the big alliances are always between structures which are far and not close. It’s a more efficient way to be together. History is more relevant that geography for alliances. At the strategic level, Europe is closer to America and Oceania than Asia and Africa. And even in Asia, in reality Europe is closer to the Far East than any other region. The Middle East is geographically closer but that’s all. We have also to consider the compatibility of civilizations. And as soon as we do this, it’s easy to see that America and Europe are compatible much more than we think in both continents. This point is crucial for the future and the next changer of the reality.
