Translated from the Greek by Athina Kehagias
As much as the propaganda of both official Greece and official Skopje tried to convince us that there was a great acceptance within Skopje, the Referendum with the enormous abstention came to give a slap in the face to the Prime Ministers who were exposed with such a pitiful outcome. We had said that the Skopian President’s statements would’ve had an impact upon the voters, and especially those regarding the issue of abstention. With this outcome, the Prime Minister of Skopje oughts to change his course in order to win the 2/3 of the Parliament, which are in fact necessary so that the process may continue. But his prestige certainly suffered a blow from which it’s doubtful that he will be able to upheave at a political level. This enormous abstinence will also have an impact upon the Greek field as well, because it constitutes an indirect victory to our struggle, since it has in fact been proved that there is no actual acceptance, and that all we’ve heard was merely inflated information or even misinformation. Consequently, the government in Greece will find it difficult to talk about the success of the Pre-agreement, quite the contrary the co-government will utilize this outcome in order to avoid friction. The fact of the matter is, that the result with the abstention percentage, points out at an international level, that we are not preparing for a mutual solution and that consequently, corrective moves ought to take place. But now the elections in Greece will also play a role, therefore, this new phase will further challenge the value of the Pre-agreement.
