32712 - NATO disputes Turkey

Translated from the Greek by Vicky Baklessi
In the framework of the 2018 summit, which should have taken place in Constantinople, NATO through France, Germany, Denmark and the Netherlands, disputes Turkey. And even though there is an allied action field, at least on a theoretical level, the reactions occur more and more, because Turkey sinks even deeper in an authoritarian system which officially trespasses its own civilians. It is a clear way for the state members of NATO to express their disagreements towards the unacceptable policy of Turkey. Because they wouldn’t want with a summit in Constantinople to be considered as if they agree with its behavior. So we slowly see state members of NATO distancing from an allied state which takes advantage of its presence in NATO to continue its action without any great consequences. But even the USA with regards to the Kurdish question , have finally chosen a different path and Turkey will have to conform at some stage if it doesn’t want to end up with its exit from NATO in a manner which she wouldn’t be appreciate on a geopolitical and military level.
