The Hellenic Hydrocarbon Resources Management co, decided to proceed with new seismic surveys South of Crete, aiming at locating target reserves
It wants to promote seismic research programs within the context of the 20 marine blocks.
It officially announced seismic surveys in an area of 26 Km2, Southwest, West, and Northwest of Corfu with additional 3D lines in an area of 11 Km2 South of Mani, at Kythera and West of Crete. But the most important factor is the magnitude in regards to South of Crete, since it’s about 46Km2, with a change in the direction of the seismic recordings which occurred from North to South, to from East to West.
This is the evidence of the interest of our EEZ in the area of the regional Crete, whereas, in the past they all spoke about the sea depth and the technical difficulties.
We consequently see that, even the official authorities at this point follow the strategic advice re:the utilization of the Greek EEZ, and they monitor more dynamically the developments in the Eastern Mediterranean region in general, and specifically South of Crete.
We realize that this constitutes a phase change which prepares a cycle change in the region, since we are now entering into practical procedures which implement a vision that we have been promoting for a long period now.
