With the contracts re: marine blocks 6, 8 and 10 with the companies Exxon Mobil, Qatar Petroleum, Eni and Total, Cyprus won from the signature bonuses alone, more than 100 million Euros.
On account of marine blocks 10 and 11 she had gained 48 million Euros, whereas for 2, 3 and 9, 150 million Euros.
In other words, with two licensing rounds Cyprus won more than 300 million Euros, which amounts to the profits gained by Greece from mining for the duration of 150 years.
Therefore we immediately see the result of the dynamics of the Cypriot EEZ, and that, at a practical level.
And so, for all those who are asking when we’ll get the first earnings from the exploitation of the EEZ and the hydrocarbons, they ought to learn that it has already begun.
And although they amount only to hundreds of millions, we ought to realize that this is only the beginning of a strategic process that has a certain range, which outweighs all the modest efforts which are made in order to bring economic growth.
Consequently, we finally understand that even in the case of Greece, the EEZ is the only factor which could in an innovative way change the data which others take for granted for years on.
Cyprus proved once again that a small country could obtain high strategy due to energy.
