27299 - In Homeric studies

N. Lygeros
Translated from the Greek by Athena Kehagias

Prior to us reaching
upon the Homeric studies
they were trying
to read
the pinakia
through the
corresponding tables
The Mycenaean therefore
constituted merely
a code
for the conversion
of a language
but they hadn’t comprehended
the syllabograms
as a language in it’s own right
and only when we’ve started
to read
directly
through the pinakia
and to record them
with their symbols
in our lexicon
the studies
were altered
and the tables
disappeared
allowing their space
to the pinakia.
