15561 - Thracian stratagems

Translated from the Greek by Athena Kehagias

From the St. Stephen’s Treaty in 1878 that created Bulgaria, the Ottoman Empire is trying, after it’s defeat against the Russian Empire, to return to the region, so as to have access to Bosnia and Albania, in order to have control over the populations it had converted to Islam since the time of the occupation.
This is already proven through the secret report of Alexander Karatheodori to the Sultan, regarding the Congress of Berlin, which will result in the Berlin Treaty.
This aim has the after effect of wanting to turn a religious minority into an ethnic minority in order to strengthen it’s role and justify the existence of the consulate which makes no sense there, since there are no citizens in need of it.
The stating of the problem is neither an exaggeration nor a solution.
The situation can not be supported solely by the fact that Thrace is located at the crossroads of an axis, as it’s also due to the lack of rational response.
Things are even more practical when placed into the European framework which remains Christian centuries.
Because Thrace belongs to the European continent and is therefore Christian as a consequence it acts as a spearhead in the region with Constantinoupole as a triangle that touches the two seas and that can not be stopped by any occupation, since it functions relentlessly for centuries.
